The symposium “Mediation of chronology in archaeology”
We are happy to invite you to the symposium “Mediation of chronology in archaeology” that will take place on 9th and 10th October. It follows the annual meeting of the Ice Age Europe Network organized at the Prehistomuseum.
Time is a question of perception, whilst chronology is a question of data and benchmarks. Time and chronology are defined, constructed, modelled and used to structure the past, explain the present and put the future into perspective, yet… How do the visitors perceive and apprehend time? How should chronology be dealt with in exhibitions and educational activities? What could be the advantages and limits of the chronological approach to archaeology?
The Prehistomuseum brings together specialists from all backgrounds around a prickly and exciting topic : Chronology and its mediation.
An ideal symposium for specialists in mediation, researchers, students, teachers and future teachers…
This conference will take place at the Préhistomuseum on 9th and 10th October 2019.
The participation is € 10 per day and includes registration management fees, drinks, lunch sandwiches.
If the experience is tempting you, on Wednesday evening, the Archéobistrot of the Préhistomuseum invites you to travel in time during a meal where dishes representing the great historical periods will be proposed. The meal « Time Line », on reservation only, is priced at € 22 (€ 28 with dessert), drinks not included.
À l'exception des chiens guides et/ou d'assistances, les animaux ne sont pas admis dans le musée.
